Life's moments abound with lessons aplenty
I must say it has been an interesting week; it’s been Fall Break here at the university. A week ago today my wife and I decided to pack up our car, load up the mountain bikes and set out on a little excursion to Missouri.
The journey brought us access to a lot of memory making experiences and hopefully we've gleaned from each one of them.
I’m a firm believer that life is like a great classroom from which many lessons are waiting to be distilled. Solomon once said that wisdom speaks to us at the place where the paths meet. (Prov 8:1 & 2. Could it be possible to glean more from life’s experiences than from all the books ever written? Hmm, good question I suppose.
So what are some “life lessons” I’ve learned this week? Here’s a few that have really stood out to me. Of course these may not mean as much to you as they do to me, but here we go:
• Family togetherness is priceless. (spent weekend with daughter and her family)
• Being outdoors on a trail can be invigorating. (rode 20 miles on the Katy Trail in Missouri)
• Mountain biking is a great hobby. (ditto)
• Children say the darnedest things! (grandkids! oh to be childlike again!)
• Quiet times with God bring peace and serenity. (morning devotionals soared)
• Celebrities are real people with real needs, just like us. (was introduced to several Celebrities in Branson, MO)
• Helping hurting friends is important. (had lunch with real friend)
• Working vacations don’t quite satisfy like relaxing ones. (had things to wrap up from my work)
• God still speaks from his Word. (he did to me this week)
• Branson is a neat place to get away to. (spent 4 days there)
• The biblical character Noah was an impressive man (went to Noah Musical in Branson, great show)
• The hills in the Ozarks are tougher for hiking and biking than Oklahoma trails. (duh, its flat in OKC)
• It’s always good to go home. (on the way home and excited about it!)
Conclusion
Life’s moments abound with lessons aplenty. Stay too busy and you’ll never notice them; live a boring life and you won’t have eyes to see them. Ask God to give you eyes of wisdom for each day.
Again, I must say, “It’s been an interesting week.”
